THQ representative chimes in on the rumors.

November 24, 2008 - Developer Relic Entertainment has hinted at the development of Homeworld 3. The rights to the space-based real-time strategy franchise was owned by Vivendi Games, but publisher THQ obtained the rights to the series when it acquired Relic in 2007.
Jonny Ebbert, lead designer on Relic's upcoming RTS, Dawn of War II, was excited by the prospect of making another Homeworld. "We're really happy the [intellectual property] has made its way home, and yeah, we're definitely looking at it. We'll see what happens in the future," Ebbert told Eurogamer.
When asked if it was one of the developer's current projects, Ebbert said, "There's always that chance." He also added, "Homeworld's always been dear to our heart; it's what put us on the map, it was our first product, and I think it will always have a special place in our hearts."
Eurogamer also asked Chris Degnan, designer of Relic's, other, upcoming, RTS game Company of Heroes: Tales of Valor, how Homeworld 3 was shaping up. Degnan said, "As it always has - behind closed doors. Blacked off. Homeworld 3, obviously, I'm not at liberty to tell you anything about."
Homeworld, released in 1999, was critically praised for its full three-dimensional movement, enthralling story, and unique soundtrack. The last game in the franchise, Homeworld 2, came out in 2003.
IGN has contacted a THQ representative to chime in on the sequel talks, and here is what he had to say, "At this point, any rumors on Homeworld 3 is pure speculation."
